Laura Apologizes for Using the N-Word On-Air
8/13/2010
Talk show
host publicly apologized on her show for saying the N-word six times Jessica Sorentino
Talk show radio host Dr. Laura Schlessinger openly and publicly apologized on her show Wednesday for going on a racial rant the day before.
“I talk every day about doing the right thing. And yesterday, I did the wrong thing,” CNN reported Schlessinger said Wednesday. “I was attempting to make a philosophical point, and I articulated the N-word all the way out — more than one time. And that was wrong. I’ll say it again — that was wrong.”
The motivation for the doctor to speak so profoundly came from an African American female caller, who on-air told Dr. Laura she has a white husband and she was getting sick of him letting his friends say things that she considered to be racist.
Following, the woman asked about the use of the N-word.
“Black guys use it all the time,” Schlessinger said. “Turn on HBO, listen to a black comic, and all you hear is n—-, n—-, n—-.”
The doctor used the N-word three more times throughout the conversation with the caller, who argued with the doctor and eventually hung up upset.
Schlessinger told the caller she must be “hypersensitive about color and [if you] don’t have a sense of humor, don’t marry out of your race.”

Racial Slur in Ward Eight Campaign
08/11/10
WASHINGTON, DC (WUSA) — A political campaign in the District’s Eighth Ward turned nasty last weekend when one of the candidates called her opponent a “Dumb N****r as a video camera rolled, the recording ending up on You Tube.
The contest is for one of the ward’s Advisory Neighborhood Commissioner spots and pits veteran Mary Cuthbert against political newcomer Larry Pretlow, who happens to be her next-door neighbor.
As Pretlow was campaigning along Martin Luther King Avenue,SE on Sunday, he encountered Cuthbert on the front porch of a neighbor’s home.
The two candidates argued briefly and when Pretlow turned to leave the porch Cuthbert shook her head side-to-side and muttered ” dumb N****r.”“I just gasped out of shock. I’m not used to that language, wasn’t brought up around that kind of language, didn’t hear it at home. Friends don’t use that language with me.
“I think it’s unacceptable and I was just appalled that I heard it from a commissioner as in a person of my skin tone,” Pretlow told 9NewsNow.
The incident has given Pretlow an issue.
I believe that she called me that because she lacks better judgement. She’s under
pressure. She feels challenged by me. She’s acting out of anger and, from what I hear, it’s a part of her. It’s her. That’s who she is. She reacts that way. She has no self control. She says whatever she feels,” Pretlow said.
9NewsNow repeatedly asked Cuthbert to explain her remarks. When asked, she walked away.http://www.wusa9.com/news/local/story.aspx?storyid=107170&catid=158

Racist Graffiti Aimed At Franklin County Church
Villa Ridge Congregation Mortified
FOX2now.com
10:43 PM CDT, May 26, 2010
VILLA RIDGE, MO (KTVI-FOX2now.com) - Vandals attack a 116 year old African American church in Villa Ridge, Missouri, painting the ‘n’ word on a sign. “This makes me feel like were going backwards,” says church trustee Adell Allen. “In reality, maybe we havent gone that far.”
Marva Gaylor was in the car with her daughter when she discovered the slur, in red letters, on a sign about 100 yards from Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church. The sign warns traffic to slow down when approaching church property.
“I’m beyond words,” says Gaylor.
Gaylors great grandfather was a slave who founded Rose Hill Missionary Baptist Church, on what was a gravel road in Franklin County in 1894. Gaylors parents still live on adjoining land and still attend Rose Hill every Sunday. That someone would paint one of the most offensive words in the English language on a sign is indescribable.http://www.fox2now.com/news/ktvi-raciist-vandalism-n-word-franklin-county-052610,0,3711648.story?track=rss

The Beaumont Independent School District is asking for the public’s support after they say someone rearranged letters on a sign to make a racial slur.
The letters “RECOGNIZED” stand on the lawn of the district’s administration building. At about 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, someone rearranged the letters to “N-I-G.”
Wednesday afternoon the district held a press conference at its administration building on Harrison Avenue.
“This type of crime is a hate crime,” said BISD Police Chief Clydell Duncan. “It’s not vandalism;this is a serious investigation.”
“Little seeds like this blow up into the Oklahoma (City) bombing,” said Jessie Haynes, who is the district’s spokesperson. “I don’t want these little seed to grow and get out of control.”

Airline grounds Rhys Meyers over drunken racist rant
Tuesday, May 18, 2010
TUDORS star Jonathan Rhys Meyers was grounded at JFK airport in the US following a drink-fuelled racist outburst.
The Cork-born TV and film star was refused a seat on a United Airlines flight and has been banned by the airline after a bout of heavy drinking.
Some reports suggested the 32-year-old actor, who has a history of drink-flying incidents, was escorted from the plane when he called an official, who had refused him access to the boarding area, the racist ‘n’ word.
The trouble started apparently with some early morning drinking. Rhys Meyers allegedly got drunk on vodka while waiting in the first- class lounge at JFK at about 7am.
RadarOnline reported that airline officials noticed Rhys Meyers getting drunk and disorderly and prevented him from boarding the flight, which allegedly led to him hurling racist insults and using the ‘n’ word while shouting at the officials.

Balotelli makes Totti racial abuse claim
May 07 2010 at 02:26PM
Rome - Inter Milan striker Mario Balotelli has accused AS Roma club captain Francesco Totti of racially abusing him during the Italian Cup final.
Totti was sent off a couple of minutes from time after wildly kicking out at Balotelli as the Romans went down 1-0 to a Diego Milito strike on Wednesday.
The veteran forward then came out on Thursday and tried to explain away his actions by claiming Balotelli had insulted him.
But the teenager of Ghanaian descent now says Totti used a racial slur.
“Nigger piece of shit, that’s what he called,” says Balotelli in Friday’s Gazzetta dello Sport.
Totti, so often the darling not just at Roma but of Italian football, has been roundly criticised for his moment of madness at the Stadio Olimpico with many commentators claiming that kick has booted into touch his chances of going to the World Cup. -
Man, 32, accused of assaulting 7th-grader
By: CHRISTOPHER RUVOThe IntelligencerA 32-year-old white man called a black seventh-grader a racial slur and then punched the boy’s 13-year-old friend in the face after they asked to pet the man’s rottweiler, authorities said Thursday.
Nicholas Arena of the 300 block of Meadow Lane, Horsham, now stands accused of felony assault and related offenses.
The attack, which occurred shortly after the boys got off their school bus April 29, has left the 13-year-old alleged victim, who is white, frightened in his own neighborhood, said the boy’s father.
“He’s nervous. He doesn’t want to be by himself. He doesn’t want to be in the house alone,” said Richard Beaver.
Beaver said his son was part of a group of Keith Valley Middle School seventh-graders who saw Arena walking his dog in the development of townhouses and condominiums off Norristown Road.
One of the boys, who police said is black, asked Arena if they could pet the dog.
Arena initially walked away, but Beaver said the accused man “circled back” and allegedly said, “‘Who wants to pet my dog now, the squishy-haired kid (in reference to Beaver’s son) or the (racial slur).’”
Court papers said Arena repeated the slur, and Beaver’s son and his friend said they did not want any trouble. As Beaver’s son stepped away, Arena punched him in the nose, records said.
The blow floored the seventh-grader, who told police he was “hit very, very hard” and that he didn’t get up for a minute or two, said records. Beaver said his son weighs about 130 pounds and stands about 5 feet 3 inches tall.
Emergency medical personnel were dispatched and treated the teen. The boy did not go to the hospital.
“His eyes got real black, but by the next morning they cleared,” said Beaver.
Arena walked away after the incident. A witness asked Arena if he had punched the teen, to which Arena allegedly replied it was none of the person’s business, said court papers.

Racist fire-raiser faces jail
Sentence deferred for man who set a family’s car on fire while camping at Loch Lomond.
19 April 2010 14:53 GMT
A 20-year-old man has been warned that he faces jail after setting a family’s car on fire and hurling racist abuse at them while camping last year.
A number of youths were arrested following the incident at Sallochy Bay, near Rowardennan, on the eastern shore of the loch on June 13, 2009.
Stirling Sheriff Court heard that Gilroy screamed “go home” and “go back to the Caribbean”, “Paki”, “niggers”, and “blackies ” at seven members from two families who had all travelled up from England to go camping at the beauty spot earlier on the day of the incident.
Gilroy, who was “wild camping” with friends, had asked the families if he could borrow their torch, before getting angry when they asked for it back.
Gilroy then burst into a racist tirade, screaming abuse at Ali Muhiyye, Mahmound Muhiyye, Abdul Sharief, Bilal Sharief, Amar Sharief, Yasser Sharief, and Mussab Sharief.
Then he headed over to a campfire he had started up with pieces of driftwood from the loch, picked up burning material, and threw it through the window of Ali Muhiyye’s car, setting fire to the interior and destroying the vehicle.
